Extraordiary Complexity from the Simplest Rules
A fascinating article, and book (i'm sure, haven't read), demonstrates how the simplest rule applied consistently can create amazing complexity. As the author presents, this gives cause to believe that the most basic natural laws (or laws) could easily give rise to the complexity of our world; subsequently, science should look for the simplest solutions in lieu of complex ones.

Big win: Cellulose directly to Diesel!
We've been looking for bugs, or trying to create them, that will convert cellulose directly to ethanol. Well, this fungus apparently goes straight to diesel! A huge win, now we need to figure out if it can fit into an industrial process.
