Save time, save money, save the environment, reduce dependence on oil: Don't change your car's oil every 3000 miles. As discussed in this article, changing your oil every 3000 miles isn't even recommended by the manufacturer of your vehicle, so why do it?!

Older, high mileage cars (read: all i've ever owned), sometimes burn oil if you go much beyond the 3k mark. Rather than adding the burnt oil to the air pollution, it may make more sense to change it. Either way, that Daimler sensor is the best way to go. Wonder if we could make a dipstick that does that.
And, while most know this, you should definitely recycle your used oil - most places that do it for you do that (ask?) and when doing it yourself, I know Advance Autoparts takes it.
Yeah, its all about making the dealerships money and the oil people money. They keep saying i need an oil change, yet in the manual it says every 7,500 miles. bunch of crazies.
Oh, and hybrids are bad too, haha. just think, where are all those batteries going to go.
the only way to win this battle is to make a vehicle that can run say on water, wind power, or something like that. Otherwise, you are always attached to the grid someway.
